How ABS controller works

In the process of braking, the ABS controller (ECU)3 continuously acquires the wheel speed signal from the front wheel speed sensor 1 and the rear wheel speed sensor 5, and processes it to analyze whether any wheel is about to hold and drag.

1. If the ECU determines that a certain wheel (assumed to be the left front wheel) is about to hold and slide, it will issue a command to the brake pressure regulator to close the channel between the brake master cylinder and the left front brake wheel cylinder, so that the pressure of the left front brake wheel cylinder will no longer increase

2. If the ECU determines that the left front wheel still tends to hold and drag, it will issue a command to the brake pressure regulating device to open the channel between the left front brake wheel cylinder and the liquid storage chamber or the energy storage device (not shown in the figure) to reduce the oil pressure in the left front brake wheel cylinder.

3. If no wheels are about to be locked and dragged, the brake pressure regulator 2 will not participate in the work. The main brake cylinder 7 is communicated with each brake wheel cylinder 9, and the pressure in the brake wheel cylinder continues to increase.

Automobile ABS controller composition

Automobile ABS controller is composed of wheel speed sensor, brake control circuit, ABS electronic control unit and brake pressure regulating device on the basis of ordinary braking system, so it is called automobile ABS controller.

Automobile ABS controller of main wheel speed sensor is continuously monitoring in the process of automobile brake wheel, rotating speed of the electronic control unit is mainly used to receive signals and issue instructions, brake pressure regulator is mainly used for adjusting the current braking on wheels, and each one on wheels are independent of the wheel speed sensor, keep track of the current in the process of automobile brake wheel speed, and constantly to the electronic control unit. The specific control process is as follows:

1. Pressurization process: as the braking pressure of the wheel decreases, the wheel will gradually accelerate and eliminate the tendency of locking, ECU in ABS will issue instructions to control the braking force to increase rapidly, and the wheel starts to slow down.

2. Decompression process: when the braking pressure of the wheel remains constant, ECU determines that the wheel still tends to lock, and ECU in ABS issues instructions to control the braking force, which decreases rapidly.

3. Pressure holding process: in the process of braking, if it is detected that a certain wheel tends to be locked, ECU in ABS will issue instructions to control the braking pressure to keep certain and no longer increase, while the braking force of other wheels that do not tend to lock will continue to increase.
